The Ford Bronco is now in its second model year on the American market but remains pretty much a US-only product, at least for now. This may change in the future as Ford is currently considering a potential launch of the off-roader in Europe, although nothing can be confirmed for now. The Bronco made its show debut in the Old continent to further fuel speculation about its market release in the region and we decided to dig deeper into this.
The Bronco Big Bend with its 2.7 liter V6 EcoBoost engine is currently being shown at the 2022 Sofia Motor Show, one of two European auto shows in the OICA 2022 calendar alongside the 2022 Paris Motor Show. To our knowledge, this is the model’s first public appearance on the continent. . It is important to note, however, that the vehicle was not officially imported by Ford Europe but by Moto-Pfohe, a Bulgarian Ford dealer. The vehicles on display in Sofia do not have a price sticker.

We asked Ford’s PR rep at the show if the Bronco would be coming to Europe any time soon and we were told the vehicle in Sofia was “purely a show-off car, an iconic piece.” No firm commitments on a launch date have been made, although Ford appears to be considering shipping the Bronco to Europe. Or, to put it simply, the Bronco will most likely be sold on the continent, but there’s no set launch date yet.
In September last year, Ford CEO Jim Farley said he had not ruled out shipping the Bronco to the European market as a potential competitor to the Land Rover Defender. During Goodwood’s 2021 Awakening, he told British media he was “just waiting for these guys” [Ford of Europe] to make a decision” but the situation may not have changed much since then.
Another positive sign that the Bronco could launch in Europe comes in the form of a trademark application from 2019 that was filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office. Submissions were registered even before the Bronco’s official debut in the United States.
