Cadillac has released a software update for the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing super sedan.
A service bulletin distributed by the luxury brand states that certain units of the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing “may have modules that require a software update to improve performance.” The bulletin does not specify which modules this applies to or how their performance affects vehicles. It is unlikely that a module that requires a software update will have a negative effect on vehicle performance or the update will improve performance. Most likely the update addresses how the various systems and technologies inside the CT5-V Blackwing communicate with each other.
It seems that this software update also cannot be done over-the-air (OTA). Owners of affected vehicles are being instructed to take their CT5-V Blackwing to a dealer to complete the update.
As a reminder, the Blackwing CT5-V is powered by a supercharged 6.2L V8 engine (production code LT4), which makes 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque. The engine is connected to a standard six-speed automatic transmission or an optional 10-speed automatic, providing power exclusively to the two rear wheels. It was considered the most powerful Cadillac ever made until that title was recently won by the Cadillac Escalade-V, which coaxed a few more horses out of the same supercharged 6.2L V8.
For the 2023 model year, a special version of the CT5-V Blackwing was added to the lineup. 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 120th The Anniversary Edition was created to commemorate the anniversary of the luxury brand. Each unit of this limited edition Blackwing CT5-V features a VIN series with a four-digit year that is important to Cadillac’s history, along with a special in-vehicle plaque, exclusive shifter medallion, and other aspects. Only 120 units of this special edition will be produced.
