The Cadillac XT4 debuted in 2018 as a 2019 model. While it may seem shiny and new to many, this little luxury crossover is close to its mid-cycle refresh. The new spy photo captures the heavily camouflaged test vehicle in public, marking our first look at what the 2024 model should look like.
If you’re a current XT4 fan, there’s good news. Despite the black cover on the front and back, a close look shows the changes should be minimal. Don’t let the bulb under the LED running light in front of you confuse you. It looks like a replacement item for road use while the new headlight design is finalized. This means the updated XT4 will definitely have new eyes, perhaps similar to the one on the Cadillac Lyriq. The new headlights mean a change to the fascia, but we can see the familiar XT4 grille smiling through the lid.
Moving to the back, we suspect the large camouflage is like a red herring. We can see the XT4’s taillights in the familiar L shape at the corners, and the trapezoidal exhaust tips are clearly visible in full view. Other than a few minor trim changes, we suspect the new rear will look mostly the same as the old one.

The big news for the refreshed XT4 will likely come from interior changes, specifically the addition of a large curved screen that takes up most of the dashboard. We had one spy shot peeking through the passenger window, and while we couldn’t see the details, the large screen was impossible to miss. It’s a complete departure from the current model, reminiscent of the Cadillac Escalade’s curved OLED display housing the infotainment and digital instrument display.
As for the powertrain, at this early stage we haven’t heard anything definite. The current XT4 uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces a modest 235 horsepower (175 kilowatts), turning the front wheels or all four with a nine-speed automatic transmission. It’s the only engine on offer, and there’s no reason to think it won’t return in 2024. With Cadillac moving towards electrification, a hybrid powertrain could also be offered.
We expect to see the Cadillac XT4 2024 revealed sometime in early 2023.
