Audi RS3 By Manhart With 500 Horsepower Debuts As Hyper Hot Hatch

Manhart did it again. After working on several BMW and Mercedes projects, the renowned tuner has now shifted his focus to the rest of Germany’s Big Three. It has set its sights on Audi and its RS3 pocket rocket, which also gets a signature black look with gold accents. Work on the aftermarket “RS3 500” package has begun and it will be available for Sportback and Sedan body models.

Since there’s always room for extra power, Manhart works his magic to give 2.5 TFSI more oomph. The turbocharged inline-five engine will be given an additional 100 hp to bring its output to somewhere around 500 hp. The enlarged petrol plant will breathe better through a stainless steel exhaust system featuring valve control for changing soundtracks on the fly.

In typical Manhart fashion, the Audi RS3 duo will be brought closer to the road thanks to a suspension lowering kit. Rounding out the package will be the tuner’s own 20-inch alloy wheels with a black look and gold stripes to echo the decals on the body and 1980s-inspired decals above the windshield. Pictures of the interior haven’t been provided yet, but expect some changes to the already luxurious cabin as well.

With 500 hp at the press, the RS3 should be the automotive equivalent of a cheetah considering that standard cars are already very fast. Audi USA cites a 3.6-second sprint time to 60 mph (96 km/h) for the Sedan while the European division says the Sportback does 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.8 seconds.

A few decades ago, this was basically hypercar territory. By 2022, you can have this performance in a four- or five-door family vehicle, which isn’t necessarily light for a compact car. The RS3 is likely the last of its kind as we can’t imagine Audi coming out with another five-cylinder car between now and 2025 when it will launch its last ICE-powered car.
