The Ferrari Daytona SP3 was unveiled in November last year as the third member of the Icona family, where it joins the Monza SP1 and SP2 from 2018. Undoubtedly, this is a very exotic looking machine, blending design cues inspired by the famous race cars from Ferrari. . corporate past but embodied with a futuristic touch. A very unique and rare sight and every time SP3 is photographed on the road it definitely deserves our attention.
Our friend Walter Vayr kindly share the photos attached in the gallery below with us, which were taken around Maranello in Italy. As you can see, this is a Daytona SP3 with cool looking camouflage trying to hide what appears to be a Maranello yellow exterior coloration. We were surprised to see a camouflaged Daytona SP3 test car given the fact that it was launched more than six months ago but there has to be a logical explanation. For the record, we spied on the SP3 a month after its debut still wearing camouflage.
Looking at the front of the supercar, the lower bumper lip looks unfinished and the rest of the aerodynamic body elements are covered with masking tape. This could be indicative of minor last-minute aero changes to the design to further optimize the Daytona SP3’s road behavior. Or, Ferrari could just make final adjustments to a customer’s car before it’s ready to be shipped to its new owner. Of course, these are all just theories based on what we’ve seen.
We know for sure, however, that the Daytona SP3 is not only beautiful but also a very fast machine. There’s a rear-seat V12 engine that produces 828 horsepower (617 kilowatts) and 514 pound-feet (697 Newton-meters) of torque. This is actually the most powerful engine Ferrari has ever built and is enough to accelerate from 0-62 miles per hour (0-100 kilometers per hour) in just 2.86 seconds.
The collector’s car of the future, the Daytona SP3 comes at a price to match its eccentric appearance and performance. Ferrari wants at least $2.25 million for each assembled example but even if you have the money, you should be invited by the company to have the privilege of owning a V12-powered supercar.
