Porsche 911 GT3 With Manthey Kit Is 4 Seconds Faster Than Stock On ‘Ring

Manthey is perhaps best known for his rival Porsche – and is actually one of the major race car makers based on Porsche products – although he also works on legal vehicles from Stuttgart. The latest upgrade for the road Porsche comes in the form of the Manthey Performance Kit for the current generation 911 GT3, and the results are impressive.

It is more than just an aftermarket tuning kit as it was developed in close collaboration between Porsche engineers and Manthey’s Nordschleife specialists at Meuspath. The package is sold through the Porsche dealer network and is focused on making the car faster on the track. When equipped with this kit, the 911 GT3 is able to pass the Nurburgring in 6:55,737 minutes or 4.19 seconds, to be precise, faster than the regular 911 GT3. Wow!

The aerodynamic tweak is one of the best known. There is a large lip spoiler at the front and an additional side cover mounted on the front fascia. The underbody has been modified with new air guiding elements, which increase downforce on the front axle, a very welcome improvement in corners. At the rear, the wings have become larger and the bumper diffuser received elongated fins made of CFRP. A very distinctive upgrade comes in the form of carbon aero discs for the rear wheels.

Porsche partnered with Manthey to develop an adjustable four-way coilover suspension that can be adapted for use on the highway or track. The automaker promises improved “handling at the limit” without sacrificing everyday usability. The 911 GT3 uses 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels and is optionally available with lightweight forged wheels, which reduce loose mass by 16 pounds (7.3 kilograms). The large wheels hide special racing brake pads, which also come as an extra cost option.

Porsche and Manthey tested a modified 911 GT3 at the Nurburgring with Porsche test driver Kevin Estre at the wheel. As noted above, the car covers 12.8 miles (20.6 kilometers) of the world’s most demanding tracks 4.19 seconds faster than the standard 911 GT3. The track-proven kit is now available to customers across Europe with shipments slated to begin this fall. Porsche promises other markets will follow.
