At a time when sales of new and used vehicles are so high, here’s a Chevrolet at a significant price reduce. And we’re not just talking a few bucks either — EV buyers will be looking at over $6,000 off the sticker price for both versions of the Bolt.

Chevrolet announced pricing on June 1, effective for the 2023 model year. On the Bolt EV, the entry-level 1LT now starts at $26,595. That price includes destination fees, and it’s $5,900 less than the previous year’s model. Stepping up to the 2LT trim also saw a $5,900 year-over-year price drop, starting at $29,795.

Those eyeing the Bolt EUV crossover will see even bigger savings for 2023. Base LT trims start at $28,195, with the top-range Premier MSRP starting at $32,695. As with the Bolt EV, all prices include a destination fee ($995). And the savings over 2022 on both trim levels are $6,300.

Why is Chevrolet taking a big bite out of the Bolt’s sticker price? According to a spokesperson, it reflects the automaker’s “continued desire to ensure the Bolt EV/EUV is competitive in the market. As we’ve said, affordability has always been a priority for this vehicle.” Barring similar price cuts from other automakers for 2023, the Bolt EV could be the cheapest new EV sold in the United States. The mark is currently held by the 2022 Nissan Leaf for $28,425.

The Bolt has a single electric motor that produces 200 horsepower, and has an estimated GM range of 259 miles on a single charge. That’s the same range listed by the EPA for the 2022 model, and connected to a fast charger, it can hit 100 miles in 30 minutes. For 2023, the Chevrolet Bolt EV gets a new exterior color option Radiant Red Tintcoat, although that adds to the base price.

The Bolt EUV 2023 also gets a new red, but Chevrolet adds a sweet Redline Edition to the mix. The appearance package includes black wheels and a plethora of red trim to give the little crossover an eye-catching look. It uses the same 200-hp single electric motor and fast charging capabilities, although the approximate range drops to 247 miles on a full battery charge.
