Cadillac XT4 Recalled For Improperly Welded Driver’s Seat

Cadillac recently issued a product safety recall for certain units of the Cadillac XT4 luxury crossover over potential issues with the structural integrity of the driver’s seat frame due to improper welding.

Problem: in the affected unit, the power tilt adjustment mechanism in the seat cushion frame may have been improperly welded, potentially damaging the structural integrity of the driver’s seat frame.

Danger: if there is an improper weld to the driver’s seat frame, the seat may not be able to properly support the passenger’s load in the event of an accident. This increases the risk of serious injury to the driver’s seat passenger in the affected Cadillac XT4 unit.

The fix: dealer technicians were instructed to replace the driver’s seat cushion frame in the affected Cadillac XT4 unit if necessary. Repairs will be made at no cost to the vehicle owner. Additionally, dealers have been instructed to discontinue the sale of all affected XT4 units until the procedures outlined in the relevant repair bulletin are carried out.

Affected components: driver seat cushion frame, power tilt adjustment mechanism.

Affected vehicles: 2022 Cadillac XT4.

Number of affected vehicles: GM indicated that an estimated total of 245 vehicles had the above conditions and required repair, but it was unclear how many vehicles would require inspection. It’s worth noting that this estimate includes not only the Cadillac XT4 unit, but also several other non-Cadillac GM models.
