[ad_1]

The teaser campaign for the BMW M2 continues in this short video. The clip combines images of driving at night and a glimpse of the new sports coupe, including the badge and headlights. The brand tells us to “get ready to play” and promises a model will be coming soon.

While we don’t know exactly when the new M2 will debut, a lot of info about the model is already available. Up front, there’s a more aggressive front fascia with a V-shaped element in the center and large holes in the corners. Judging from the camouflaged development vehicle, the flared fenders cover the bronze-colored wheels that have diamond-shaped spokes. A wing is attached to the decklid.

We saw a test of the M2 with two exhaust layouts. The standard setup seems to place a pair of outlets on each side of the rear bumper. Another option seems to be the M Performance piece which has four pipes exiting the center in a two-tiered trapezoidal layout in the middle of the tail.

Inside, the M2 has a pair of large screens. There’s no sign of a manual gearbox available yet, but we can’t rule it out.

All signs point to the power that comes from the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged version of the BMW S58 inline-six, which is also under the hood of models like the M3 and M4. The app reportedly produces around 450 horsepower (335 kilowatts) and drives the rear wheels.

We don’t know when BMW will launch the M2 yet, but we don’t expect too long to wait. The automaker confirmed that production would begin in late 2022 at the plant in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. The brand employed 800 employees to start the second production shift there.

The BMW M division is quite busy at the moment. It is also preparing for the debut of the M3 Touring wagon, which will reportedly happen in June. Plus, the M4 CSL just premiered.
