Chevy Corvette Z06 Video Explains Aerodynamics From Front To Back

The Chevy Corvette Z06 2023 isn’t just about numbers or an amazing V8 engine. When it debuted last year, Chevrolet emphatically said that it has a different body from the C8 Stingray, starting with a wider track, as well as a collection of aerodynamic parts to improve airflow.

A new video from Chevrolet aims to explain how these aerodynamic parts work from front to back. As part of the Corvette Academy video series, Corvette engineers provide the wisdom behind the design and engineering poured into American supercars.

The standard 2023 Corvette Z06 model comes with the usual front splitter and spoiler with an attachable fixed wickerbill, which is described as a small tab on the edge of the spoiler and can increase downforce. The shape of the hood contributes to airflow, with air directed towards the engine for cooling and through the roof for downforce.

Even the foundation is designed to increase downforce, but those who want more aerodynamic efficiency will need to opt for the carbon fiber aero package. This package adds a larger front splitter, a forward-corner sub, underbody strake and a large wing.

For maximum performance, Chevy also offers the Z07 Performance Package, which adds a FE7 suspension with additional Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 calibration, and a set of Michelin Sport Cup 2 R ZP tires developed specifically for the Z06.

Results? The ability to do 1.22 g on a 300-foot skidpad and achieve 734 pounds of downforce at 186 miles per hour (299 kilometers per hour). What else with the touted 200+ mph top speed?

Production of the Corvette Z06 will begin this summer, so it’s only a matter of time before the first owners receive the hottest Corvette.
