The BMW XM concept will be a production model towards the end of 2022. Whether the design is to your liking is entirely up to you, but for better (or worse), it will look like the odd concept we saw last year.
At least that’s what we see here – a BMW XM was allegedly caught in minimal disguise at the airport, based on Wilco Blok on Instagram. The source of the image was not disclosed in the social media post, as well as the exact location of the airport.
However, the front, sides and back of the “future M” are captured in the photo. Just browse the photos above.
A massive lattice of polarization is present on the alleged XM caught out in the open. While it’s still hidden in spy shots, we’ve confirmed the presence of separate headlights in the hybrid performance crossover.
On the side, the BMW XM still looks to adopt a sloping roofline through the execution of a boxy design. The rear shows the exposed vertical stacked exhaust pipes. All of these elements remain true to the XM Concept. Whether this is good or bad news, again, is entirely up to you.
We’re not sure where this alleged BMW XM is headed. There are several possibilities but one thing is for sure: we are close to launching a performance model. If you’re one of those people who can’t come to terms with this design, we’ve had the opportunity to push a pre-production prototype and it holds promise.
The BMW XM with 644 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque will launch this year, with production units arriving at dealerships in late 2022. A hotter version with the promised 750 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque will arrive in 2023.
