Some would argue that Mercedes has no direct rivals like the Rolls-Royce Phantom and Bentley Flying Spur Mulliner. However, the Maybach division continues to push the envelope in its quest to become a truly ultra-luxury brand. The extra-long sedan represents the pinnacle of sophistication for the double M. What if a fairytale brand could improve things by using more luxurious materials?
This is where the Mercedes-Maybach Haute Voiture comes into play, taking the form of a concept to see a limited edition special set to launch in early 2023. Influenced by high-end fashion, the ultimate S-Class comes in two colours. The exterior finish combines a dark navy blue color for the upper body and alloy wheels with a touch of rose color for the underside. Of course, the real magic is in the cabin.

The color combinations we see on the outside continue in the luxurious interior where blue, cream and rose gold bouclé fabrics adorn the door cards and are also seen on the seats with soft cushions aka scatter cushions. The rose gold accents give the impression that you are sitting inside the jewellery, the jewelery is bundled with the matching bag and outfit using the same bouclé fabric and Nappa leather.
By the way, there are white Nappa skins everywhere you look. Maybach went a step further by discreetly revamping the MBUX by giving the infotainment a shimmering rose gold accent. Additionally, the home button has a rose gold ring and proudly carries the Mercedes-Maybach logo. From champagne flutes to white faux fur, one could say the Haute Voiture is the most luxurious S-Class of them all.
There’s no word on which engine the next production car will use, but the majestic V12 reserved for the S680 model seems like an educated guess to us. As for how much it costs, be prepared to pay over $200,000 considering the lesser V8-powered S580 starts at $184,900. Mercedes-Benz USA hasn’t announced pricing details for the S680, but it will definitely start with the “2.”
