The fourth Top Gear series since the show moved to BBC One is about to go live and there’s a new trailer for the season. Series 32 is arriving “soon” and the short video attached to the top of this page hints at adrenaline-pumping Florida action in Top Gear style.
The clip shows the emcee having a situation with customs officials at the airport. Freddie Flintoff, Paddy McGuinness, and Chris Harris had some rather odd items in their trunk and had to answer awkward questions about their purpose and function. Footage from Top Gear Series 32 reveals all the cute gear that actually comes from various scenes and challenges.
From the initial preview of this new series, it looks like the season will be packed full of action. The three hosts went on a swamp buggy race in crocodile-infested waters, rode some of the most iconic police cars ever seen on screen, and hit the road in the 35-foot-long Holiday Rambler Aluma Lite RV. Sounds like a lot of fun but it’s not nearly as much fun watching a washed and detailed diesel Volkswagen Golf.
Of course, The Stig was there too. “You, Robocop. Please take off your helmet,” said the customs officer. Guess what. He didn’t take off his helmet and this move triggered the airport emergency team.
Top Gear has had some sort of renaissance since moving to BBC One. When Series 29 aired between 4 October 2020 and 1 November 2020, it averaged 5.68 million views in the UK. Series 30 is very close to Top Gear’s record year with an average of 6.42 million viewers in the UK. Things got a little quieter with Series 31, which had an average audience of 6.03 million viewers.
Oh, we forgot to mention something about the new series. The trailer hints at scenes with the Sinclair C5, an electric tricycle with a one-person battery. As one of the commenters under the video on Youtube let’s say, this is one of the most innovative, but terrible vehicles of the 1980s.
