2024 Porsche Panamera Spied Parading Major Updates On And Off Track

[ad_1]

We can’t deny that Porsche has raised money with the Taycan, even beating the automaker’s iconic 911 in 2021. The success of the electric sedan would spell doom for the Panamera, but Porsche seems to be keeping the nameplate alive.

In fact, Porsche is working on a new model, and our spy photographer has spied on a test mule showing off a major update on and off the track. We’ve been seeing Panamera’s next mule test in public since over a year ago, but now the changes are getting closer and clearer.

The new Porsche Panamera mule seen here shows changes to the fuel cap, headlights and door handles, which you don’t see on the facelifted model. The rear side windows are also hidden on this prototype, informing us that this part will also be revamped, while the slimmer taillights, front fender and rear hatch all show signs of an imminent update.

This series of updates leads us to believe that we are no longer dealing with the facelifted Panamera; a full new generation overhaul is likely underway. That’s especially true with the interior spy shots we’ve seen recently.

The cabin of the new Panamera looks to adopt design cues from the Taycan, which shouldn’t be too surprising. There is no shift lever for the automatic transmission, while the controls and layout are entirely taken from the best-selling electric sedan.

As for the powertrain, Porsche will reportedly offer the next Panamera with an updated and more powerful petrol engine with mild hybrid technology. For those not ready for full electrification, a plug-in hybrid version will be available, supposedly getting a bigger battery and better pure electric range.

No timeline has been set for the next Panamera arrival. However, given the extensive testing period that Porsche goes through on the new models, a new Panamera is expected sometime in 2023.
