2024 VW Passat Rendering Previews A Slick Wagon Not For America

Volkswagen is bound to give the Passat an update. As early as February this year, the automaker had begun testing the next-generation model, though initially using the current-generation test mule. VW ended up using the production body for testing, albeit using a kind of trickery by trying to hide the details through stickers.

Our artist tries to unmask the production of the B9 generation Passat through this unofficial rendering. The key word here is “unofficial”, as this look may or may not match the actual model. However, some design elements based on spy shots are visible in this imagined rendering.

As far as VW’s design direction is concerned, we expect the Passat to carry a single-slat grille up front that connects narrow matrix LEDs that show a resemblance to the ID model. Bumpers vary widely from prototype, though which one is a mystery at this point as it is heavily hidden with a sticker on the prototype.

Since the Passat will exclusively be offered as a wagon in Europe, the rendering shows a long roof model. The windows in the rendering reflect what was seen on the spy prototype – narrower towards the rear for a sporty look. The roof is also more slanted in rendering, as is the case in the spy prototype, further highlighting the slick design approach.

While not visible in the rendering, there are a lot of changes in the new generation Passat based on the interior spy photos we’ve seen so far. There will be capacitive buttons on the steering wheel, while the center console features a large tablet-style screen that is once again similar to the ID model.

It’s important to note that the Passat will have an electric counterpart called the Aero B. VW has already teased the model and confirmed a 2023 launch. As for the Passat, we expect the wagon to debut sometime in 2023 for the 2024 model year.
