Going off-road in a vehicle capable of really handling it is a blast. It may not be exciting for those who enjoy the full speed of a 1,000-horsepower supercar, but there’s a certain thrill to expertly navigating treacherous terrain by crawling, squeezing around gnarled trees and jagged rocks. But things can go wrong at 5 miles per hour or 155 mph, and the new TikTok captures the low-speed tragedy where the Jeep Gladiator failed to cross the river.
The driver slowly dipped into the water, inching towards the drop-off before realigning the truck. The driver first lowers the front driver side tires, followed by the passenger side. The bottom of the truck looks very close to a bit of the riverbed jutting out. The truck’s rear driver’s side tire fell off, but when the driver tried to lower the last wheel, the protruding rock appeared to hit the rear bumper and undercarriage.
The truck’s final resting place has either the rear tires dangling in the water, but can’t reach solid ground, or the truck is literally stuck in a rock and can’t muster enough force to get it out. The tire looks just inches from salvaging the truck. The driver tries to leave, but the tires just spin, sending water flying into the air just before TikTok ends. The truck might have made it if it weren’t for the rock sticking out.
The drops don’t look so steep, but measuring the depth of the water is never easy. Hopefully, the incident didn’t cause too much damage. Maybe just need a new rear bumper. The Jeep Gladiator has an approach angle of 43.6 degrees and a departure angle of 26 degrees from the factory, though Jeep owners enjoy modifying their vehicles to make them stand out in this truck.
