Porsche Macan EV Spied In 31 Photos From Cold-Weather Development

The Porsche Macan EV is currently in development and is currently conducting cold weather testing in the Finnish Lapland region. Apparently, the engineers weren’t too happy about the spies taking these photos because a team from the German automaker used several vehicles that followed the prototype to block out what the photographers could see.

The aggressive behavior of the automaker’s development team is odd because this example of the Tiger EV doesn’t look very different from the one in the previous spy shot.

Up front, the crossover’s camouflage has a faux grille in an attempt to hide that this is an EV. Each headlight consists of four LED elements, and there is a pair of lights on each side of the front fascia.

Along the sides, there is a camouflaged section along the C-pillar. It looks like the arch of the roof continues further than what is immediately apparent here, and the development team is trying to hide it.

The rear consists of a sharp-angled rear windshield that drains into a small, active spoiler. The exhaust pipe is just a replacement cutout as a way to hide that this is an EV.

The previous spy shot provided a great view inside the Macan EV. There is a large digital instrument cluster in front of the driver. The key slot becomes a beveled panel next to it. There’s also a large infotainment screen, and the center console appears to have another screen.

The Macan EV uses the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform. It should support 350 kilowatts of charging thanks to its 800 volt electrical architecture. The base model of the crossover will have a motor driving the rear axle. Higher grades will be all-wheel drive with added propulsion to the front end.

Porsche has already confirmed that the Macan EV goes on sale during calendar year 2023. This means a full debut could happen as late as 2022.
