There may be a problem with the factory-installed sticker on the Ford Maverick. Some members at Maverick Truck Club forums have reported damage to the decals after going through an automatic car wash, with one person also claiming damage to the decals on the hood when picking up a new vehicle at a dealer.
Forum member by username pjlawton start a conversation, share a photo a First Edition models with underside lines all removed on the passenger side. The damage is thought to have occurred after a visit to what was described as a “regular car wash” at the follow-up post. The post led to other Maverick owners sharing similar experiences with car washes; the main image at the top of the article is from the members FX4 Maverick just showing a few pieces of FX4 sticker left on the back of the bed.

Posts from dolbylogic and WVX76 also shows damage to FX4 stickers, and new members CG First Edition shared an image from the First Edition with damage to the hood strip. In that case, forum members claim the truck was brand new at the dealership with sticker damage, so the cause is pure speculation. In this case, other forum members didn’t specifically mention what type of car wash was suspected of causing the damage, except for the “regular” mention from the start of the original post in this thread which we interpreted as an automatic car wash with a brush.
We have reached out to Ford for comment on the matter, although a reply has not yet been received as of posting this article. We’ll definitely be installing an update if we hear back, but it’s worth mentioning that Ford closed the order book for all 2022 Maverick models on January 27th due to demand. Orders for the 2023 truck are expected to open in the summer.
