Stunning International LoneStar Semi-Truck Looks Wonderful In Wood

[ad_1]

Very few factory stock semi-trucks have caught the eye like the LoneStar International. This is a truck that even non-fans recognize as something special, even if they don’t know its name. The curved, curved grille with its presence dominates the exterior, and the grille is aptly remade in this highly detailed wooden model, built entirely from scratch.

This is the latest project that Woodworking Art has shared on YouTube, and if you are a regular subscriber Motor1.com reader, you’ve probably seen the build before. Each one is impressive, be it a classic Volkswagen or a Rolls-Royce Boat Tail which is big enough to drive. But as the video description states, this is the artist’s first attempt at creating a semi-truck replica. We’d say it was a successful escape based on the grid only, consisting of 36 apertures per sidelike the real thing.

It’s not just the aperture that makes this grille special; it gently curves around the hood and tapers back at the top, giving the truck a slightly scratched appearance. This wooden model captures those nooks and crannies perfectly.

Smooth curves are not lowered into the grille. The round fenders blend into the hood, which tapers down to the bumper. The teardrop headlamps sit on the fenders, while the sleeping cabin reflects the basic shape of the grille, curved inward. These curves help LoneStar stand out in a sea of plate-faced rigs, and it’s all captured in this wooden model. The video only spends a few minutes on the process, showing glimpses of cutting, sculpting, and sanding. But the video description mentions “a lot of time and painstaking process in sculpting every detail,” so you know this isn’t an afternoon project.

And it just keeps the grid and curves right. The real-life LoneStar is bursting with detail when you look closely, and the scalloped trim that runs along both sides of the hood is no exception. There’s a dual engine air purifier with integrated running lights, dual chimneys, side ladders, integrated fuel tank under the cab, and don’t forget, this is a semi truck. That means there are 10 wheels mounted on axles with working suspension, and they really do look like legit semi-truck rims.

International LoneStar debuted back in 2009, but 13 years later it’s still a sight to behold. That goes for life-size rigs, or beautiful scale models like this one.
