Veteran Fast & Furious Director Justin Lin Steps Down From Fast 10

Just a few days of shooting for X fasttenth installment in Fast and full of energy franchise, director Justin Lin has left the building. In an announcement shared on The Fast Saga’s various social media pages, Lin announced his departure as director of the new film, although he will remain as producer.

Here’s Lin’s full statement:

“With Universal’s support, I have made the difficult decision to step down as director of Fast X, while staying with the project as producer. Over 10 years and five films, we have been able to shoot best actor, best actor, stunts, and car chases. On a personal note, as a child of Asian immigrants, I am proud to have helped build the most diverse franchise in film history. I will forever be grateful to the incredible cast, crew and studio for their support, and for welcoming me into the Fast family. .”

The announcement came as something of a surprise, considering filming for X fast started just seven days earlier. A quick check on the Internet Movie Database still showed Lin as the director, even though he was listed as the rumored person. The announcement does not give reasons for the decision; Deadlines reporting the breakup is friendly but there could be some creative differences at play. At this time, it is not known who will replace him.

Lin is a veteran of the film franchise, having directed more than half of Fast movies to date. His debut came with Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Driftthird installment which opened in 2006. He continued with the fourth, fifth, and sixth films, then returned as director for the latest film, F9: Fast Saga. He is also a producer and writer for F9and executive producer for the sixth and fifth films.

If everything is on schedule, X fast should hit theaters in May 2023. The familiar cast is expected to return, joining Brie Larson and Jason Momoa in as-yet-unknown roles. As for the plot, that is also unknown. Recalling the previous film saw Pontiac Fiero fly into space, the sky is is no limit to what the crazy car heroes may face next.
