Non-amphibious cars start to feel Vvitamin sea become commonplace these days. In fact, another bit of dust, or rather sand, when a Nissan GT-R from the Philippines went swimming without the owner’s permission. You can watch the ordeal in the video above.

According to the witnesses we spoke to, the GT-R driver attended a drag race event in Cebu – one of the big islands in the Philippines, an archipelago. The driver apparently left the car in neutral and the parking brake released after stopping the V6-powered coupe.

Unfortunately, the parking lot is on an incline that leads to the sea without any obstructions. As seen in the video, the GT-R slid into the ocean water and survived for a while before finally sinking.

The bystanders quickly helped and tried to pull the Japanese sports car back to shore. They did it, though we can’t say whether the GT-R will survive completely submerged in water, much less so in highly corrosive environments. The Godzilla nickname doesn’t come with the fictional monster’s amphibious/reptile abilities.

There are things we can learn from this scenario. One is that the GT-R, despite its weight, seems buoyant enough to stay afloat for a few seconds. That aside, we should all be aware of our parking space before leaving the car – and make sure the parking brake is engaged and the gear is not in neutral. This may sound basic but has the potential to be disastrous when ignored, as we have seen here.

A few days ago, a Land Cruiser police car got stuck on the beach and was then flooded by the tide. It took hours before the SUV was pulled out of the water. On the other hand, the Ford Bronco spends its time submerged in seawater for a long time, spending its weekends underwater.
