Lexus RZ Teased Again Before April 20 Debut

Lexus released another teaser for its upcoming fully electric SUV. RZ shows the back again following the official images published earlier this year (see related link module below). There’s not much to see from this photo, though it basically confirms everything is ready for the big debut slated for April 20.

The Japanese brand promises an online disclosure of RZ, which will showcase “brand challenges for a carbon-neutral society.” Interestingly, the digital debut will include a video that showcases “the joy of driving that only a Lexus can offer with natural sounds gathered from the real world that stimulate the five senses.” This sounds like a pretty interesting display, right?

As for the RZ itself, it’s nothing more than a more luxurious and premium version of the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra. The Lexus version of this electric SUV will feature a more dramatic exterior appearance, highlighted by the latest evolution of the marque’s closed-design grille spindle. The sharp-edged headlights on each side touch the center of the fascia and above it sits a heavily wrinkled hood, as previously confirmed by the teaser image.

When it hits the market, the RZ will be the company’s first dedicated electric vehicle. It will launch only in the guise of an RZ 450e, at least initially, which will sport a version of Toyota’s two-motor electric powertrain as seen on the bZ4X. It delivers an output of 215 horsepower (160 kilowatts), although peak power could be slightly higher at the Lexus to reflect the vehicle’s higher starting price.

Everything will be revealed in just two days from now when the Lexus RZ will make its world online debut. We’ll have all the official information and photos published literally seconds after the premiere, so stay tuned.
