The 2022 New York Auto Show is in full swing, but there’s another auto show happening nearby that’s arguably a little cooler. New vehicles and concept cars certainly catch the eye, as does the Chrysler Pacifica with its Hellcat V8 under the hood. In this case, so is the bright red classic Bronco that was personally restored by an accomplished Hollywood actress.
That’s what you’ll find at the first New York Auto Parts Show, sponsored by eBay Motors and running alongside the larger show. In some ways, it’s no different from the famous SEMA show, featuring parts for the crowd that aren’t purchased while showcasing high-profile project vehicles to keep you motivated to get it done yourself.
How high profile are we talking about? You may recognize the Pacifica Hellcat; back in March we mentioned it was a new work in progress from car YouTuber Tavarish. Sticking to the engine swapped YouTube car scene, Emelia Hartford is known for her blazingly fast Corvette C8 but at the New York Auto Parts Show, she owned a Toyota Prius called change. It traded the factory standard hybrid for the Honda K24a four-cylinder engine, which was connected to a six-speed manual. Tesla swapped V8 from Rich Rebuild It’s there too, and for off-road fans, there’s a wild 1990s-era 6×6 Ford Ranger from Hard Grinding Pipe Company.
Hollywood was also represented on the show in a very special way. Last year, Motor1.com was the first to report that actress Sydney Sweeney immediately restored her 1969 Ford Bronco. He managed to play the classic off-roader while continuing to star on HBO’s euphoria and other projects like The Voyeurs for Amazon Prime. He shares the development progress on his TikTok channel called syds_garage, handles everything from suspension upgrades to rust repair, welding and transmission work. The last update on his channel was from January 2022, but now we see a brilliant red Bronco finished and looking great.
The New York Auto Parts Show opens April 14 at the Manhattan Classic Car Club, located at Pier 76.
