Recently a test mule was spotted testing his abilities during a snowy trial earlier this week. The Corvette C8 has taken the very practical Corvette ethos and applied it to a mid-engine layout identical to that of a supercar. In classic Corvette mode, the base car is just the beginning as we recently had the chance to see the all-new C8 Corvette Z06 reveal and enjoy the rumors about the upcoming E-Ray Hybrid Corvette.
The car seen in this snowy test is a strange mix of the base car and the Z06. The rear of the C8 uses the same exhaust system as the base car, while the front benefits from the styling of the Z06. To confuse viewers even more, the exhaust note is clear from the flat-crank V8 used in the Z06. It is worth mentioning that the Corvette Z06 engine is one of the largest internal combustion engines ever built.
The 5.5-liter V8 engine in the Z06 cranks up to 8,600rpm and produces 670 horsepower (500 Kilowatts) and 460 lb-ft (623 Newton Meters) of torque. This flawless V8 is mated to the same 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission found on the normal Corvette C8 that has proven to be a fantastic transmission both on the road and on the track.
