Heated Steering Wheel Feature Returns To 2022 Cadillac CT5

The heated steering wheel feature was removed from the Cadillac CT5 at the end of last year due to an ongoing global microchip shortage. Now, Cadillac Society have learned that comfort features are finally returning to luxury sedans.

The heated steering wheel (production code KI3) is restricted from the new unit CT5 from 6 December^th2021. This feature remains restricted until March 28^th2022 but can now be ordered and re-equipped on the new 2022 Cadillac CT5.

The heated steering feature can be fitted to all trim levels of the Cadillac CT5. On the base Luxury trim, it’s included as part of the Cold Weather Package, which adds $600 to the luxury sedan’s overall price tag. On the Premium Luxury model, the Climate Package bundle features a heated steering wheel while adding an additional $1,200 to the price of the vehicle. The CT5 Sport and CT5-V models can be equipped with a heated steering wheel by completing the Cold Weather Package or Climate Package.

It’s worth noting that despite the heated steering wheel limitations of most trims in the CT5 family, that feature has never been restricted from the very high-performance Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing.

On a related note, the luxury marque indicated late last year that Cadillac CT5 units assembled without the heated steering wheel feature intact would be eligible for refit. Cadillac hasn’t indicated when that will happen, but says that it could be as soon as mid-2022 if the microchip situation allows.

The 2022 Cadillac CT5 350T is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L I4 (production code LSY), with 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This engine is standard on the Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels. The twin-turbo 3.0L V6 (production code LGY) is optional on the CT5 Premium Luxury, producing 335 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, while sporting the 550T badge on the decklid. The same engine is standard on the CT5-V, which makes 360 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque.
