Porsche Partners With Rimowa For 911-Inspired Hand-Carry Suitcase

Porsche announced a partnership with another German company. Rimowa, known globally for its grooved luggage since 1950, has designed and manufactured a carry case inspired by the true Porsche icon, the 911. For fans of both companies, this is certainly good news.

Dubbed as Rimowa x Porsche Hand-Carry Case Pepita, this product is a limited edition suitcase. It’s inspired by the 911 and designed to fit as well. According to Porsche, the carry case can neatly fit in the front trunk of the 911 from the 996 generation to the new 992 generation. For an air-cooled Porsche, the case can fit comfortably in the back seat.

Of course, Pepita’s Rimowa x Porsche Hand-Carry Case smells like 911 design cues. The glossy handle, lock and strap holder are inspired by the glossy door mirrors, door handles and hub caps of the original 911. The leather luggage strap decor pays homage to the leather straps used to secure the 911’s hood to bodywork.

Then there’s the gold-plated full-sized Porsche badge sitting in the middle of the Rimowa trademark groove – the same one found on legacy Porsche models like the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Edition.

The 911-inspired Rimowa Pepita has a capacity of 30 liters. Inside, the fabric recreates the black and white plaid Pepita fabric that covered the Porsche 911’s seats during its first decade of existence.

There’s also the sports car’s yellow engine compartment label, which houses the recommended tire pressure values. At Rimowa, the yellow label has instructions on how to use the lock. Lastly, a bespoke palladium buckle is used to secure the case, which is similar to the Porsche 911 seat belts.

As mentioned, the Rimowa x Porsche Hand-Carry Case Pepita is a limited edition product. Only 911 cases will be made, which will be available in the Porsche Online Store from April 21, 2022.
