Art cars are usually made for, well, art. It’s a product of imagination and expression – whether it’s the owner or the automotive brand itself. But if you were expecting an art car to be a slow one, we can’t blame you. They are usually not the vehicles you see when you want to get around.
Well, the key word here is usually because there must be exceptions, like this one – the supercharged Jaguar XJR-6 sedan. Even better, it can be yours if you’re up for something quick and very eccentric.

This Jaguar XJR-6 is listed for sale in Obscure Cars For Sale group on Facebook, and rightfully so. This is an odd-looking 1996 model sedan and has been driven for 151,000 miles (243,011 kilometers) according to the listing. It has no asking price but sellers encourage buyers to make offers. According to the seller, it’s a “really beautiful art car that would make a great daily driver or Burning Man train.”
For the uninitiated, the XJR-6 (or simply XJR) is a high-performance version of the X300 generation of the Jaguar XJ, built during the company’s tenure under Ford. This is the first Jaguar to get supercharged straight from the factory.
Different from the newer V8-powered XJR, the XJR-6 uses this XJ-generation AJ16 six-cylinder engine, except that it uses an Eaton M90 supercharger for forced induction. The resulting power output is 321 horsepower (239 kilowatts) and 378 pound-feet (512 Newton-meters) of torque.
