Until now, the possibility of a Ford Maverick ST was just a rumor. This spy photo gallery might be our first chance to see performance-focused trucks in the real world. It’s on the track at the Blue Oval proving grounds.
The best evidence that this is a Maverick ST is in the back of this truck. This pickup has a modified rear bumper with cut-outs on each side. If you take a closer look at some of these photos, it seems that there is an exhaust pipe in each of them. This is important because the current model comes with a single outlet.

You can see another interesting detail by looking behind the front grille. What appears to be an extra intercooler is in there or maybe just the space moved for the part. Regardless, it looks like this Maverick powertrain needs extra cooling for a reason. A better performing powertrain is one possibility for this change.
Ford also put camouflage around the wheel wells. Despite the cover, it looks like the fenders stand out more than the current version of the Maverick. Widening the arch is something automakers usually do when making performance-oriented products because the models have a more manly look, and the company can install wider wheels.
All wheels have camouflaged covers.
Rumors about the Maverick ST from August 2021 suggest that Ford is monitoring the market to see if the sporty model is a good fit. This isn’t a confirmation of the vehicle, but the company hasn’t ruled out that possibility either.
We don’t think that this is the rumored Maverick Rattler. A spy shot shows the model with parts like a revised front fascia, skid plate, and a higher ride height. It may also have a more powerful engine, but the picture shows one exhaust pipe instead of two.
Ford filed for the trademark for “Rattler” on June 28, 2021. As of this writing, the United States Patent and Trademark Office list the application as “Under Inspection.”
