Cadillac Society Take
The 19 percent year-on-year decline in Cadillac Canada sales during the first quarter of 2021 represented the third consecutive quarter of contraction for the luxury brand in the Canadian market. However, the first quarter results showed a notable recovery when compared to a 49.5 percent decline in Q4 2021. In fact, Cadillac went from selling 1,852 vehicles in the last quarter of last year to shipping 3,049 units during Q1 2022 in Canada, representing an additional 1,197 units increase. . That represents a fairly healthy increase of 64.6 percent on a quarter-on-quarter basis.
The significant increase in sales volume for Cadillac in Canada was due to increased unit availability in the local market, with notable quarterly increases for the Cadillac Escalade as well as the XT5 and XT4 crossovers. In particular, the Escalade is again the only model of the brand to achieve year-on-year sales growth thanks to combined shipments of 962 units. This performance strengthens the position of the Escalade as Cadillac’s best-selling vehicle in North America.
Meanwhile, the Cadillac XT5 followed closely with 822 shipments, representing a healthy 40 percent increase compared to the 588 units sold in Q4 2021.
