Cadillac Dealer Count Is Now Down To 564 Storefronts In The U.S.

Just last year, Cadillac announced that it expected to have only 560 storefronts in the US by the end of 2021, and it appears the luxury brand has achieved that goal, as Cadillac’s dealer network in the US now numbers 564 individual storefronts, down from 921 dealers four years ago.

Cadillac revealed this figure during a recent media presentation attended by Cadillac Societystates that all of the current 564 dealer locations across the country will be “EV ready” and fully prepared to deliver the marque’s line of luxury electric cars by 2030.

Over the past few years, the luxury marque has set its sights on restructuring and overhauling its dealer network to support the upcoming sale and service of electric vehicles. The latest effort involved a Cadillac dealer investing $200,000 in additional items such as an EV charging station, along with retooling the service department and improving storefront aesthetics. Dealers who opt out of the investment are eligible for purchases ranging from $300,000 to $1 million.

In total, about 150 locations within the Cadillac dealer network decided to accept purchases instead of making EV-related investments. Many of these dealers cited low customer interest in electric vehicles as a reason for dropping the Cadillac brand, many of which are located in rural areas.

Despite having only 564 locations across the country, Cadillac maintains more physical storefronts in the US than any other luxury car brand. Cadillac has decided to open new dealerships in markets typically associated with luxury, such as Beverly Hills and San Francisco, where consumers may be more receptive to luxury EVs and the prices associated with them.

Cadillac’s first battery electric vehicle is the Cadillac Lyriq 2023, which recently went into production at its Spring Hill assembly plant in Tennessee. After the Debut Edition lands, the order book for the next unit will open on May 19ththallows customers to start ordering new Lyriq units directly through Cadillac dealers instead of going through a lengthy reservation process.
