The spy photographer captured a fresh BMW X6 parked on the side of the road. The location offered a fantastic opportunity for them to snap some pictures of the updated crossover.
The big changes to the updated X6 are on the front. The headlights are slimmer, and the lamp designs inside are different. The development team hid the lower fascia with camouflage. Covering the area indicates that there have been tweaks to this area. The renal lattice appears to have had no changes.

At the back, the X6 has a panel above the lower fascia to hide the production version design. The exhaust design features a pair of double pipes with a design that has a shared center bulkhead for each side.
While not visible in this shot, previous photos show that the X6 received major changes to the cab (below). BMW is testing them with a new pair of screens. Expect them to run the iDrive 8 software. The grid display in this development vehicle is not yet production ready. There are also tweaks to the center console, including the loss of high gearshift in favor of much smaller rocker control.
There is no info on the powertrain changes yet. We have no indication that BMW is planning to make any major changes to the X6 engine.
The exact debut date for the refreshed crossover remains a mystery. The main question is whether BMW plans to launch an updated X5 and X6 at the same time. If the company does this, then we will see both premieres in 2022. If not, then the X5 will likely arrive first, and then the X6 will come a little later.

The main adjustments are the lower fascia and redesigned headlights. The changes are not revolutionary, and only people who are really familiar with the model will notice the difference.
