BMW 1 Series Spied With Quad Exhaust Tips, Could Be M140i

[ad_1]

The BMW 1 Series has a refresh on the way. With its quad exhaust tips, this shot seems to be showing us the updated M135i. Although, the brand might be reviving the M140i name for this model, according to our spies.

The engineers loaded this Series 1 in camouflage, and the cover does a good job of hiding what’s new. Brands typically make adjustments to the styling of the front fascia when updating vehicles, but it’s impossible to distinguish any adjustments at this time. The headlights appear to have a more rounded shape, less angled than the existing design.

As with most vehicle refreshes, there are no major changes along the sides. The spoiler at the rear of the roof appears to have a steeper angle.

Like the rest of the car, the BMW development team covered the rear with camouflage. The quad exhaust pipe is the most striking difference compared to the existing M135i, which has a single outlet emerging from each tail corner.

The last batch of updated Series 1 spy shots we saw showed a less performance-focused version. Compared to this one, there is a higher ride height and smaller brakes, especially at the rear. These factors give further credence to the variant in these new photos as a replacement for the sporty M135i.

There are no images yet for the updated Series 1 interior. Maybe get the latest iDrive 8 infotainment system to keep the vehicle up to date.

Details about any updates to the powertrain range are not yet available. While not for the M135i (or M140i, whatever BMW calls this model for), there are rumors that the updated 1 Series lineup might get a plug-in hybrid.

The debut date for the updated Series 1 series remains a mystery. We don’t expect it until 2023, due to an update on the M135i for the 2022 model.

The M140i previously went with a special edition in 2019. It boasts a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that powers the rear wheels.
