The latest teaser for the revived DeLorean finally lets us get a clear glimpse of the vehicles to come. The company also announced that the model is getting a full debut on Thursday, August 18, at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. We can also find out the name of the car there.
The new teaser image shows the DeLorean driver’s side from behind. Compared to the original, the roofline appears to have more of a curved shape, compared to the angular style from the 1980s. The grille is still part of the style.
Instead of the original side plates, these DeLorean fenders now protrude from the main body of the rear pillar. It also looks like the elongated side windows are gone in favor of a continuous pane that leads to the rear of the vehicle.
There appears to be a full-wide taillight circling the side of the body. In the outer corner, the lamp becomes thicker and has three overlapping lines.
The modern version of DeLorean pixelated this image and released it on April 1 to build anticipation for the model.
The automaker said the revived DeLorean road car was also part of the Concept Car Lawn display at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. It’s not clear if this indicates that the vehicle showcased at the event is actually the production version the company intends to sell.
Italdesign takes care of the new DeLorean look. The previous teaser confirmed that it has a gullwing door just like the original. As on the back, the arrangement doesn’t look as angular as the iconic model.
The new DeLorean has an electric powertrain. There are absolutely no details about the system.
The original model was never very sporty, despite its sporty, wedge-shaped appearance. The 2.85-liter V6 engine has just 130 horsepower and 160 pound-feet of torque.
DeLorean DMC-12 didn’t work. Production lasted just two years before the company went bankrupt. Film Back to the future from 1985 is what made the car an icon. The film was the highest-grossing film of the year, according to Box Office Mojo. The vehicle is as stellar as Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.
