Sales of the Cadillac CT4 declined in the United States and Canada during the fourth quarter of 2021. Sales of the luxury sedan have not yet begun in other markets including Mexico and Russia.
Cadillac CT4 Sales – Q4 2021 – United States
In the United States, shipments of the Cadillac CT4 reached 1,396 units in Q4 2021, down about 49 percent compared to 2,721 units sold in Q4 2020.
During the complete 2021 calendar year, CT4 sales increased by approximately 48 percent to 7,253 units.

Cadillac CT4 Sales – Q4 2021 – Canada
In Canada, shipments of the Cadillac CT4 reached 88 units in Q4 2021, down about 55 percent compared to 194 units sold in Q4 2020.
During the complete 2021 calendar year, CT4 sales increased by about 105 percent to 727 units.

Competitive Sales Comparison
Cadillac shipped only 1,396 CT4s during A4 2021, down from 2,721 units in Q4 2020. That performance places the subcompact luxury sedan in fourth of its six competitive bracket entries.
The BMW 2 Series continues in first place with 3,132 sales, beating the rest of the competitive bracket despite a 35 percent drop. Second place went to the Acura ILX with 2,270 shipments, down 44 percent. Third place went to the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class, which recorded 1,542 deliveries, down 39 percent. CT4 was fourth with 1,396 deliveries, down 49 percent. The Mercedes-Benz A-Class followed in fifth with 1,226 deliveries, down 66 percent. The segment was rounded off by the Audi A3 in sixth with 985 deliveries, down 70 percent as the model underwent a generational change.

From a segment share point of view, sales of the Cadillac CT4 accounted for 13 percent, the same as last year’s quarter.
The Series 2 posted a leading 30 percent share in its segment, up 7 percentage points. ILX accounted for 22 percent share of the segment, up 3 percentage points, while CLA-Class gained 15 percent share, up 3 percentage points. After the CT4’s 13 percent share, the A-Class took 12 percent, down 5 percentage points, while the A3 accounted for a 9 percent share, down 6 percentage points.

Combining the two Mercedes-Benz offerings gave the German automaker 2,768 deliveries, down 55 percent. This gives Mercedes-Benz a 27 percent segment share, placing it second overall in the segment.
Overall, the subcompact luxury sedan segment average shrank by 50% to 10,551 units in Q4 2021, meaning the Cadillac CT4’s performance is in line with the segment average.
Cadillac Society Take
Sales of the Cadillac CT4 during the fourth quarter of 2021 experienced a decline due to a lack of inventory at the dealer level due to the halt in luxury sedan production at the Cadillac Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan. The luxury marque chose to limit assembly of the CT4 to support production of another vehicle in its line, namely the highly profitable Cadillac Escalade, simply because there weren’t enough microchips to work with all of its models. The CT4’s larger cousin, the CT5, was also faced with a low inventory situation as a result of idle production, with its sales plummeting along with the CT4.
Fortunately, production of the CT4 resumes in October 2021 for the 2022 model year, and as long as production remains at full capacity, we fully expect sales of the Cadillac CT4 to increase throughout 2022. We also expect the CT4-V Blackwing at the top of the range to increase. sales figures as well as interest in the CT4 line as a whole.
It’s also worth noting that changes are in sight for the luxurious C-segment. Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz announced it would discontinue the A-Class sedan after the 2022 model year, removing it from the CT4’s competitive bracket. However, Acura recently unveiled the Integra Prototype, which will compete directly with the CT4 once it launches for the 2023 model year, replacing the ILX.
