After a modest show in 2021, it looks like Jeep is bringing a legit concept truck to the 2022 Jeep Easter Safari at Moab. With a little over a week until the event, we now have a “Trail Marker 6” teaser that actually showcases the seventh concept from the Jeep. However, this one is not an entirely new creation.
At least we think about it’s not entirely new. Last year, the Jeep Wrangler Magneto concept launched as an electric off-roader, based on the two-door Rubicon. This new teaser clearly shows Magneto in the white hood, as we saw earlier. But now we have the number 20 after it, and in a very short paragraph about the teaser, Jeep mentions pushing “the limits of the legendary Jeep 4×4 and off-road development even further.” Obviously, there’s something extra going on here. The question is, are we dealing with a modified version of last year’s Magneto concept, or another Magneto EV?
This is where the plot thickens. We’ve also seen the number 20 before, actually recently. The previous Easter 2022 Jeep Safari teaser showed the hood of the Wrangler Rubicon with 20 in small script. Next year marks the 20th anniversary of the Rubicon trim, and we believe the concept could see a 20th anniversary model set to enter production. Could it be that the new Magneto 20 also previews the possible 20th anniversary trim that will be in production for the 2023 model year? Making such an announcement at Moab – where off-road fans can see it in action – could be a smart PR move.
After all, the Magneto 20 (whatever it ends up being) will be surrounded by a whole bunch of combustion-powered Jeeps. The teaser campaign opens with a decorated Gladiator and a Grand Cherokee 4xe hybrid. After that, teaser images appeared one by one and the Wrangler became the main focus. In addition to the aforementioned 20th anniversary Rubicon, we’ve taken a look at the military-themed Wrangler 4xe and an interesting Wrangler/Gladiator mashup. Literally the day before this Magneto teaser we saw another Wrangler in four-door guise wearing a plethora of custom parts.
The 2022 Easter Jeep Safari kicks off on April 9. That means there’s still plenty of time to show more teasers.
