2023 BMW XM Spied Silently Going Sideways On Snow

One might say BMW has more SUVs than it needs in its lineup, but there don’t seem to be too many SUVs and crossovers. The Bavarian company is working on a new flagship utility and is currently testing it with its production body, which is equipped with temporary lights. It was recently caught on camera being evaluated on a snowy test site, giving up all of its hybrid power to sideways.

It’s hard to talk about the engine design as it’s still pretty much camouflaged. There are even faux body panels attached to the front fascia which creates a false perspective on how it looks. However, we can already tell XM because it’s unofficially known to be big and have a sloping roofline.

This is a spy video, we can see the electric SUV doing its best in the snow. Traction seems decent and power is more than enough to quickly propel large family movers out of a standstill. Looks stable in the corners, although in the early seconds of the video you can see the test driver driving the XM like a rally car. Interestingly, the dance is not accompanied by the roar of the engine.

This may be an indication of the powertrain that is under the hood. According to initial reports, the XM will be offered with three powertrain options with the most powerful combining a V8 engine with a hybrid system. This version is expected to produce around 750 horsepower (551 kilowatts) and 737 pound-feet (1,000 Newton-meters) of torque, judging by the figures released about the XM Concept. An electric range of about 30 miles (48 kilometers) on a single charge can be expected.

It’s hard to say when the production version of the XM will arrive, although there are rumors that it could happen later this year. If this is true, we can expect the massive hybrid SUV to go on sale early next year.
