Chevrolet today introduced the all-new 2024 Traverse. The three-row SUV, which will go on sale in early 2024, has a fresh look inside and out and will be available in the new rugged Z71 trim.

The Traverse Z71 has a wider track and increased ground clearance by more than an inch, which Chevy paired with unique 18-inch all-terrain tires wrapped around wheels and an exclusive twin-clutch all-wheel drive system trim. It has a better approach angle thanks to its unique fascia and popping red tow hooks.

The SUV manages rough terrain with unique dampers and hydraulic rebound control. The new Traverse offers driver-selectable driving modes, including Terrain Mode, with hill descent control available.

The Traverse RS is back available with a unique badge and new glossy black 22-inch aluminum wheels, which Chevy has fitted with black accents on the grille, roof rails and molding. It even has a walk-up lighting animation to approach the owner. Inside, the Traverse RS features a flat-bottom three-spoke steering wheel, with the automaker finishing the cabin in Jet Black and red accents.

The 2024 Traverse will also be available in LS and LT trims. Driving the 2024 lineup will be a new turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces around 315 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. The 3.6-liter V6 of the current model produces 310 hp and 266 pound-feet of torque.

An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, driving the front wheels. All-wheel drive is available, with the Traverse Z71 featuring an exclusive dual clutch system. It had a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, and the SUV went into model years the following year with two new exterior colors: Lakeshore Blue and Harvest Bronze.

The entry-level LS comes standard with eight seats thanks to the second and third row of bench seats. Eight seats are also available on the LT, but this trim comes standard with seven-seater seating alongside the Z71 and RS trims, which feature a second row of captain seats.

Buyers who get the Traverse RS get one-touch folding second-row seats and folding third-row seats as standard. Folding all seats provides 97.6 cubic feet of cargo space, which the company can access with the available AutoSense liftgate, a first for an SUV.

A 17.7-inch infotainment screen dominates the dashboard, which Chevy says is more than 75 percent larger than the largest screen available on the 2023 model. Six USB ports are standard, with wireless charging and WiFi hotspot capabilities available. The driver can see the larger 11.0 liter digital instrument display.

The Traverse featured a pass-through center console, with column-mounted electronic transmission shifters. The automaker made heated front and second-row outboard seats, heated steering wheel, and heated outside mirrors available as well. Super Cruise is also available on these models.

The LS and LT will be available with the Midnight and Sport Edition upgrades. The Traverse has new front and rear lighting with LED as standard. It comes with several standard safety and driver assist technologies along with Chevy Safety Assist which includes automatic emergency braking, follow distance indicators, forward collision warning, lane keeping assistance with lane departure warning, high beam assist, and forward pedestrian and cyclist violations.

Chevy won’t be releasing pricing information until near the start of production, and will go on sale in early 2024. The 2023 Traverse LS FWD starts at $35,915 (price includes $1,395 destination charge). RS starts at $46,440.
