Maserati Grecale Three-Door Render Deserves To Become Reality

Three-door crossovers and SUVs are a rarity these days. Some of the few that you can still buy are the short-wheelbase versions of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Land Cruiser 70 Series, and Nissan Patrol. If you notice, this is a boxy framed SUV and is not available in the US.

As for crossovers, it’s been a while since manufacturers launched them. One of the last to be offered was the first-generation Range Rover Evoque. But even so, Land Rover ditched its stylish (but less practical) body style when it launched its second-generation model in 2019. Instead of making a three-door model, the manufacturer opted for the trendy (and divisive) coupe-crossover look.

However, this hasn’t stopped some virtual designers from creating virtual versions of cars that may ever exist. One of them is X-Tomi Design, an artist we have been eyeing for a long time. This time, X-Tomi is toying with the possibility of the Maserati Grecale having another body style. In this case, it is a three-door model.

X-Tomi did more than just take the back door off and call it a day. If you take a closer look at the render, you’ll notice that the front door is longer than it looks on door five. The crossover’s B-pillar also moves further back to give the impression of a shorter wheelbase. While the tweak sounds simple on paper, the results look pretty good.

But even X-Tomi is aware that this model is unlikely to ever be real. Even if it matches the diminutive Maserati, demand for the three-door crossover has waned over the years. That’s a promising idea, but Maserati needs volume sellers. It needs a model that pays the bills to help the Italian automaker continue to produce more attractive vehicles. At the moment, the three-door crossover is too small for Maserati to even consider.

However, it would be great if Maserati continued this idea. Additionally, the top-range 3.0-liter turbo V6 engine produces 523 horsepower (385 kilowatts) and 457 pound-feet (620 Newton-meters) of torque. The Grecale can reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.8 seconds if equipped with six twin-turbos. And with two fewer doors on it, the three-door Grecale has all the potential to become a major fan.
