Awesome Aluminum V8 Engine Block Pen Holder Is Happening

[ad_1]

If you’re a car nut, you’ll probably appreciate the V8’s engine block design. Its relatively compact nature makes it one of the most versatile machine designs out there, making it the perfect candidate for a wide range of uses – even pen holders.

That last idea came from Grant Takara, who launched a Opener campaign for a CNC machined V8 machined aluminum block pen holder that fits your desk.

Loosely based on the Chevrolet LS3 engine block, the Takara uses a 5-axis machining tool for its eight-hole aluminum pen holder. It measures 3.7 inches (93 millimeters) long, 3.1 inches (80mm wide), and 2.3 inches (59mm) high. For reference, it can fit in Takara’s palm based on the photo.

Takara offers acetal liners for cylinders in three different diameters to accommodate a variety of pen sizes. There are four rubber feet that can be attached under the aluminum block to protect the table and the pen holder itself.

There are two finishes for the V8 engine block pen holder. The engine finish of one, while the other beads are blown up, represents the original V8 engine block texture typically seen in muscle cars.

Takara, a mechanical engineer who has been CNC machining since 2012, required $5,000 to start the project.

As of this writing, $29,180 has been pledged for this cool idea, with just a few hours remaining before the deadline. This means it will happen soon. If you’re interested, feel free to visit the Kickstarter page via the resource link below.

According to the Kickstarter page, deliveries will begin in early May 2022. Backers will receive an engine block pen holder and eight acetal liners of their choice. Free shipping within the US, although international shipping is possible as long as taxes are handled by the buyer.
