When you watch this video of the Volkswagen explosion, it will be hard to believe that no one was hurt as a result. Every outburst is violent – that’s the point – but this one seems to be very. Probably because there was no fireball with this particular occurrence. And yes, there were no injuries even though two people were standing right next to the car.
The incident occurred on March 16 on the outskirts of Fortaleza, in the northeastern region of Brazil. According to reports from Metropolesthe vehicle in question was at the gas station when the natural gas cylinder in the car exploded in unison, and we mean cat-a-strophy. Security camera footage (embedded at the top of this post) captured the incident, showing two men standing in front of the third-generation Volkswagen Voyage sedan with the hood open. One moment everything was fine, and the next, the back of the car was fine is lost.
It appears that VW has illegal compressed natural gas conversions. Daily mail reported the car was being refueled with natural gas when it exploded. The flow of fuel was clearly visible in the rear of the car after the explosion, which disappeared when someone turned off the pump. The report said vehicle owners installed CNG systems with tanks irregularly and did not have mandatory safety inspections. Stations could also be in trouble, as workers don’t appear to have checked the proper seals or certificates to verify conversions.
Meanwhile, an investigation is underway as the tank – or what remains – is nowhere to be found. It reportedly landed 200 feet away, damaging walls and other cars as it fell back to earth. However, when the fire department went to retrieve it a few hours later, someone appeared to have run away.
As for the poor Volkswagen, it seems that this Voyage journey is truly over.
