McLaren Artura Track Car Spied, Video Catches Mean Exhaust Note

[ad_1]

McLaren loves to race, so it’s no surprise that it offers a track version of its model. It currently offers the 570S GT4, but it’s old, debuting for the track in 2016. However, it might not be long before the new spy videos are accurate. This allegedly captures the testing of the new McLaren track car at the Monza – Artura Circuit covered in camouflage sporting large wings.

The video doesn’t get close enough to the car to see the details, but the large chin spoiler is visible at some of the tracks. The big wings are also unmistakable; however, camouflage does its job by hiding other styling changes. We expect McLaren to give the car a new front and rear fascia for improved cooling and heat extraction, along with other modifications.

McLaren introduced the Artura in early 2021 with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged electric V6 engine. The hybrid powertrain produces 671 horsepower (500 kilowatts) and 593 pound-feet (804 Newton-meters) of torque. But it won’t be the powertrain that powers the track car. It will lose the electrical components, though the engine alone still makes 557 hp (430 kW) and 431 lb-ft (584 Nm) of torque.

The car will likely have engine limitations to allow it to race in certain classes, such as the GT4, where it can compete with the Supra GT4 and others. However, we do not know the specifications of this racing car. It could be the Artura GT4 or the Artura Sprint, following in the footsteps of the 570S Sprint tires that McLaren also offers. We’ll need a closer-up spy photo to really dissect what McLaren is testing on the race track.

We’ll have to get more photos of the car to determine what it really is. The video description says that McLaren Customer Racing is testing the vehicle on the circuit. There’s no indication from McLaren that we’ll be learning about this new car any time soon. We are eager to learn more and see it up close. It could have a ruined interior, like the Toyota Supra GT4.
