The rear window, like any other part of the vehicle, hides secrets that not all of us know, simply due to lack of curiosity or interest or lack of observation skills.
Yet it can be useful to know that there are some details that at first glance may seem irrelevant o useful only for aesthetic purposes, but which instead make the difference when you’re driving.
For example, someone may have noticed that there are horizontal bands on the rear window that seem to have been placed there at random. Actually for how much it may seem trivial are practical and useful during travel.
Modern and dated cars, that’s what this detail always present on the rear window is for
These bands are found in both modern and older cars. Always having a perfectly clean rear window is essential for having a clear view of the outside, of the whole road, of other vehicles as well as of your own car. especially when maneuvering.
In winter, however, the rear window always ends up misting up, especially when it’s very cold outside and inside instead the temperature is quite high and comforting. In this case the black bars come into play.
These are electric wires that work like small resistors. A very small amount of current flows in the wires which activates a switch that creates heat by increasing the temperature of the glass, reducing the difference between inside and outside.
In this way the glass defrosts, because the hot air manages to retain much more water than normal and therefore to absorb the condensation that forms. This rear window is not a very simple rear window, but a heated rear window.
Heated rear window, how it works and what to do in case of damage
The heated rear window allows you to defrost the glass much faster while dehumidifying the passenger compartment and solving a problem that besets many motoristsespecially those who are forced to go out early in the morning and wait whole minutes for the windows to defrost and to be able to see clearly through.
It can happen like any other part of the vehicle, that it is defective or that it no longer works as it should after a long time. In this case it is better to avoid applying the do-it-yourself solutions and call a professional able to solve the problem in a short time, being aware of what could be useful and what not.
Doing it yourself is not recommended because it could rather create other problems and cause that the requested amount becomes exorbitant.
