The Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 55 debuts in Europe to celebrate 55 years of the AMG brand. It is available to order there from now until October 2022.

The G63 Edition 55 is available in Obsidian Black Metallic or G Manufaktur Opalite White. A sticker at the bottom of the door has a stylish AMG badge on it. There’s also the AMG Night Package and the Night Package II, which add lots of dark accents. The fuel cap is chrome and has the AMG branding. This SUV uses 22-inch forged wheels with a cross bar design and a Matt Tantalum Gray finish.

The cabin of the Edition 55 has a black and red color combination. The chair features two-tone Nappa leather in this shade. The steering wheel is made of Mercedes Dinamica microfiber, and the middle finger has a “55 AMG” badge. The AMG brand floor mat is black velor with red contrast stitching. The stainless steel tread plate has a red illumination.

The package does not change the powertrain. The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine produces 577 horsepower (430 kilowatts) and 627 pound-feet (850 Newton-meters) of torque. Power flows through a nine-speed automatic transmission

Buyers of the 55th Edition also get an AMG-branded car cover.

In Germany, the Edition 55 model adds €17,850 to the price of the G63. In announcing this model, AMG reported “more birthday surprises to follow in the coming months.”

The 55 Edition made its hot debut after Mercedes showed off another special G-Class that was part of a collaboration with Palace Skateboards. The SUV has a white horse prancing against the background of the starry sky beside the vehicle body. The collection also includes the A45 S, SL63, and AMG GT63.

Spy shots say that more variants of the G-Class are on the way. The 4×4 Squared model brings a more robust offering to the lineup. It has parts like a raised suspension, roof racks, a ladder at the rear, and what looks like a light bar above the windshield.

An updated G63 is also on the way. Judging from the camouflage, the exterior changes seem minor. Inside, the model may get an updated version of the MBUX infotainment system.
