Porsche Classics Sells CarPlay, Bluetooth for Early 2000s Models

  • Porsches has expanded factory-approved touchscreen infotrainment support for the 997 911 (2005–2008), 987 Boxer and Caymans (2005–2008), and the first generation Cayenne (2003–2008).

Porsche introduced a touchscreen infotainment option for the vintage 911 in 2020, giving classic, air-cooled owners access to digital maps and music inside the vintage housing. The factory-approved retrofit units come in a 3.5-inch configuration referred to as Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM), with a screen so small that owners might squint to read the words of more than one Planck unit, or larger 7, The 0-inch configuration is referred to as Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus (PCCM Plus), which allows the owner to move his head back a few micrometers. Depending on the vehicle installed, this was offered for the 911 from the 60s, through the 996 generation.

Now Porsche Classic is expanding touchscreen support to include the 997 911 (2005–2008), 987 Boxster and Cayman (2005–2008), and the first generation Cayenne (2003–2008). The expanded product line gives qualifying Porsche owners access to USB connectivity, Bluetooth, SiriusXM radio, plus AppleCarPlay and Android Auto functionality. The new lineup will only be available in the larger 7.0-inch dual DIN size. According to Porsche, on the 911, Boxster, and Cayman, the system can store personal settings for lights, windshield wipers, climate control, and car lock.

The new PCCM Plus units, as previously announced, are designed to fit snugly against the dashboard. The look and feel is based on components such as climate control that are already built into the car, in an effort to give the owner a modern experience without losing the feel of the car’s generation. PCCM and PCCM Plus units are available to order from Porsche dealers, with PCCM Plus units retailing for around $1475.
