Ken Block Was Hesitant To Drift His Audi RS E-Tron GT

Drifting a conventional car with a mechanical handbrake is easier than a new one with an electronic parking brake. Take it from professional and certified Hoonigan rally racer Ken Block.

In his latest video it is part of his new video Electric Fleet series, Block shared his doubts about drifting his new custom Audi RS E-Tron GT. It all comes down to the lack of a handbrake, which Block uses so he can slide whenever he wants.

But that’s only the first part of the video – the rest of the “first drift video” is just pure fun watching (and listening to) the squeak of rubber.

Armed with a wealth of cornering experience, Block is able to fly the Audi EV. He completed the donut, the figure eight, and even a large slide with a fan sitting in the passenger seat. Despite the successful stunt, Block said the car was trying really hard to prevent it from slipping but from what we all saw, it looked like a walk in the park for the Hoonigan driver and co-founder of DC Shoes.

In case you’re wondering, the Block wheels are custom made by Rotiform – the LSM-designed six-spoke rims at the rear and the turbo-style Aerodisc model at the front. All four are wrapped in Toyo Sport tires.

As for the engine, Block’s Audi RS E-Tron GT is available…at least for now. It has a dual-motor electric powertrain setup that puts out 590 horsepower (440 kilowatts) and 612 pound-feet (830 Newton-meters) of torque. This system can temporarily increase output to 637 hp (475 kilowatts).

In 2021, Block parted ways with Ford and signed a contract with Audi to promote its electric car. The German company is building a special Audi S1 E-Tron Quattro Hoonitron, which will star in the next Gymkhana video called Electrikhana.
