The hybrid-electric Cadillac V-LMDh endurance racer has been in development for some time, and now, the marque’s luxury racing division has revealed three unique liveries that will grace the new machine on track.

The three Cadillac V-LMDh prototype race cars each used a different scheme in each of the three primary colors: blue, gold, and red. This color trio represents the three dominant colors on the Cadillac V-Series “Racing Mondrian” emblem.

V-LMDh No.2 will enter the blue-themed FIA World Endurance Championship, piloted by Earl Bamber, Alex Lynn and Richard Westbrook. Meanwhile, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will feature the No. 1 gold driver. The 01 V-LMDh piloted by Sebeasttian Bourdais and Renger van der Zande competed with Caddy No. 31 is red, which will be driven by Pipo Derani and Alexander Sims.

“Cadillac is ready to compete against the best in North America and internationally – including one of the toughest races in the world, the 24 Hours of Le Mans,” said Cadillac Global Vice President, Rory Harvey. “As Cadillac builds towards an all-electric future, the all-new V-LMDh further enhances our dedication to exploring new advanced performance technologies.”

The Cadillac V-LMDh was developed by a joint effort between Cadillac Racing, Cadillac Design, and Dallara. Under the hood, power comes from the luxury marque’s new LMC55R 5.5L V8 engine set for racing, mated to a generic hybrid system. The powerplant is rated at a whopping 670 horsepower and is paired to a seven-speed sequential gearbox.

“From an aesthetic standpoint, the LMDh regulations allowed us to create a vision for a car that was clearly Cadillac,” said Chris Mikalauskas, Cadillac’s chief exterior creative designer. “And that’s really exciting for the fans and for the people who are really passionate about it, every car is unique.”
