We’ve seen all kinds of crazy custom vehicles over the years. This pickup truck certainly qualifies as custom, but perhaps the most surprising thing about this huge Chevy is what not yet have been done. It was taken down, cut, painted, stripped of the roof, and furnished as an attractive, unorthodox limousine. You may be wondering how much work it takes to stretch the frame, but here’s the thing. It hasn’t been stretched. Mind blowing, right?
Let that fact rest in your mind while we talk about the rest of this truck, called the Krew Kut. It started life as a 1992 Chevrolet heavy-duty cabin crew pickup truck (hence the name). This particular rig has a long box option with dual rear wheels, which is why it looks so long. We’re used to seeing four-door trucks with shorter beds, and indeed, not having a roof also adds to the optical illusion. But the length of these trucks – all 22 feet – is completely bare.
It’s about the only thing left in this radical edifice. The current owner actually stalked this truck for years after seeing it in California, and when it finally appeared on eBay, he jumped into action. Krew Kut is lowered and rides on a hydraulic suspension that literally slams into the ground at a stop. Although raised, the body had to be modified to make room for the frame. Obviously there’s been all sorts of custom work being done to the interior, and the tailgate is closed because this truck’s workday is long gone. On the bed you will find a large bench seat and a hydraulic pump for suspension.
The front clip is taken from the Cadillac Escalade, paired with a special bumper to give the truck a very low position when fully lowered. The Chevy’s default taillights are gone, replaced with Toyota Supra lenses on the custom rear bumper. Under the hood is a modified LS V8 engine that produces 617 horsepower (460 kilowatts), all of which is channeled to the rear wheels. That sounds like a lot, but surely this land cruiser weighed the same as the Titanic before it sank, right? Here comes the second big surprise of this build – the truck only weighs 3,100 pounds. It turns out that removing the roof saves some weight.
Per the video, the owner has several cars but if he can only keep one, this is it. We suspect the video was shot before gas prices launched to Jupiter, but for anyone who likes attention behind the wheel, Krew Kut definitely supplies it quickly.
