Initially, Cadillac intended to produce just 3,200 Lyriq units during calendar year 2022, but later changed those plans, substantially increasing that number to 25,000 units to meet customer demand. Orders for the initial unit, dubbed the Lyriq Debut Edition model, sold out in just 10 minutes. The number of pre-orders placed hasn’t been announced yet, but Cadillac indicates it has at least 216,000 “hand-pickers” interested in the electric luxury crossover.

As soon as the Debut Edition lands in dealers, the order book for the next Lyriq model will open on May 19thth. Cadillac originally planned to have the reservation process as it did for the Debut Edition models, but decided to make the Lyriq available to order immediately to streamline the process and meet high levels of demand.

Riding the new BEV3 platform, the Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition 2023 is equipped with a 100.4 kWh Ultium lithium-ion battery pack and a single Ultium Drive motor mounted on the rear axle. The electric driveline is rated at 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, and Cadillac estimates the Lyriq will have a range of 300 miles on a full charge. While the Debut Edition is only available with rear-wheel drive, a more powerful all-wheel drive model, known as the Lyriq Performance AWD, will launch in early 2023.
