Maserati Grecale Teaser Shows The Touchscreen, But Is Shy About Size

The new Maserati is coming soon. Real fact soon – Grecale finally made his world debut on March 22. That date was announced back in February, and to make sure we don’t forget, Maserati has released several teasers since then. The latest is what you see above, celebrating the touchscreen display of an SUV that is, um, two stars wide?

Obviously, Maserati is a bit coy here, and that’s okay. Apart from the blurry photos (which look like old-school 3D images), at least we know the center screen is bigger than 9.9 inches.

What’s that? Technically, the teaser refers to a “screen surface” which can include a digital instrument display for the driver. How do we know Grecale will have such a look? We saw it back in January thanks to a series of spy photos that revealed much of the interior, including a nice look at that center screen.

Checking out the spy shots, it’s safe to say that the center screen is definitely 10 inches or so. It looks like a separate design, with the upper part likely reserved for communication, navigation, and audio controls. The low drop would be ideal for climate settings, seat functions and other features. A bank of tactile controls in between offers quick access to commonly used systems.

At least that’s the theory. We’ll find out if our musings are accurate when the cover is lifted in just a week. At that time, we expect to see an attractive crossover SUV with a wide range of powertrain options that can offer over 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) in the upper trim. A previous teaser revealed a triple-digit top speed that will “make your heart pound” so performance is definitely part of Maserati’s plans.

Lower trim levels will likely offer a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine borrowed from the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, which makes 280 hp (209 kW) and 306 pound-feet (415 Newton-meters) of torque. That’s enough to send the Stelvio to around 145 mph, but if the 621-hp (463-kW) twin-turbocharged V6 from the Maserati MC20 finds its way under the hood, it will what we can be certain of is be thrilling territory.

Everything will be revealed on March 22.
