While all of the Cadillac Lyriq 2023 Debut Edition is talked about, interested customers won’t have to wait too long to secure Cadillac’s new luxury electric crossover for themselves. That’s because the Lyriq 2023 book order will open on May 19thallows dealers to order Lyriq through the same ordering process as other Cadillac models.
Cadillac originally planned to implement a reservation system for the new Lyriq units after the first units, known as the Debut Edition models, had landed. However, interest in the Lyriq proved stronger than expected, and the luxury brand opted to cancel another round of reservations in favor of opening the order book as soon as possible. Given that orders for the Debut Edition sold out in under 10 minutes, bringing the Lyriq into the regular ordering process was critical for Cadillac to ensure that customer demands were met.
As Cadillac Society exclusively reported last week, the Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition is slated to enter production on March 21st. Assembly will take place at Cadillac’s Spring Hill plant in Tennessee, where Cadillac plans to significantly increase its electric vehicle production throughout calendar year 2022.
The Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition 2023 uses the new BEV3 platform and is equipped with a 100.4 kWh Ultium lithium-ion battery and a single Ultium Drive motor mounted on the rear axle. The electric driveline is rated at 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, and Cadillac estimates the Lyriq will have a range of 300 miles on a full charge. The Debut Edition is only available in two exterior colors – Stellar Black Metallic and Satin Steel Metallic – but we expect more color options to be available when regular orders open in May.
Besides that, Cadillac Society recently learned that an all-wheel-drive Lyriq is on its way. Dubbed the Lyriq Performance AWD, this luxury electric crossover will feature a second motor mounted on the front axle, delivering higher levels of power and torque. Production of the Lyriq Performance AWD is expected to begin in late 2022 for delivery in early 2023.
